Storybook Adventures

June 20--August 12
One Week Camp Sessions!

It’s time to register your child for the 2011 Summer Camp! Each week we will take an adventure into a classic story. Our campers will be introduced to their favorite characters as we experience each storybook adventure. We will start by having a magical tea party with the Mad Hatter, safari through the jungle of Jumanji, enjoy sweet treats with Charlie, and end our summer journey on the yellow brick road.

It will be a summer full of fun, friends and fantasy!

The eight-week Summer Camp program begins the week of June 20 and ends the week of August 12.

Week 1: June 20 to June 24 -- Alice in Wonderland

Week 2: June 27 to July 1 -- Stuart Little

Week 3: July 5 to July 8 -- The Indian in the Cupboard

Week 4: July 11 to July 15 -- Jumanji

Week 5: July 18 to July 22 -- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Week 6: July 25 to July 29 -- Charlotte's Web

Week 7: August 1 to August 5 -- Peter Pan

Week 8: August 8 to August 12 -- The Wizard of Oz

FUN AND ADVENTURE
Each camp day is filled with fun activities to enrich the mind and spirit. Our weeks of adventure will include imaginative fun, arts and crafts, music and movement, science projects, special snacks and outdoor play. All campers will enjoy outdoor water play and activities.

SWIM TIME
Each day (weather permitting) Preschool and Pre-K children will have fun in the splash pools and sprinklers on our spacious age-appropriate playground. The Kindergarten and Elementary children will enjoy a combination of outdoor water play and activities, and afternoon swimming at The Sterling Park Golf, Swim and Tennis Club.

LIVE PERFORMANCES
Each week your child will be treated to a wonderful exhibition or performance presented by local performers. The performances enhance the summer camp experience for your child. A complete list of the shows will be published once we receive final confirmation from the performers.

Our Kindergarten and Elementary campers will also have off-site field trips to enhance the weekly camp themes. Everyday an adventure in learning and fun!

Camp Information

Dates of Summer Camp

Our 2011 Summer Camp program begins the week of June 20 and ends on August 12.

Camp consists of eight (8) one-week sessions. Camp weeks begin on Monday and end on Friday. All camp weeks are offered as a five-day camp week. We also offer a three-day Preschool and Pre-K (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) camp only option. You may register for one, a few, or all eight camp weeks.

Lunch

Summer Camps All campers have the option to purchase lunch from the Academy at $2.50 per lunch or to bring a nutritional bag lunch from home. Soda and candy are not permitted at camp.

Reminder - Discovery Oaks Academy is a Peanut-Free School.

Summer Camp Registration Information

All Summer Camp openings are filled on a first come, first served basis. Enrollment is limited, so please register early.

To Enroll Your Child for Summer Camp you will need the following information:

Registration form Please fill in all the blank spaces and sign and date this form. Indicate the session(s) your child will attend. A non-refundable $25 registration fee is due at time of registration. This fee covers registration for all camp weeks and includes the camp t-shirt to be worn on designated camp days.
A check made payable to Discovery Oaks Academy should be submitted with this form.
Weekly Camp Fee -- The weekly camp fees include tuition and activity fees (paid at time of registration). Please contact our office for information on camp tuition, before and after care, late fees, and other financial matters.
Enrollment Form – This form is a two-sided form (please complete front and back) and must include a Parent Signature. NEW STUDENTS must submit an original birth certificate as proof of identity. (We will look at this document, record the information and return it to you.)
Health Form - All campers will be required to have a current Commonweatlh of Virginia School Entrance Health Form on file. All three parts of this form must be completed including the Comprehensive Physical Exam Report and Certification of Immunization. We must have a copy of this form on file prior to your child beginning camp.

The Registration and Enrollment Forms must be submitted at the time of registration. Payment for summer camp registration fee and a deposit for each camp session that your child is attending should accompany the paperwork.

Who May Attend

Preschool children aged 2 (and potty-trained) to Elementary age (Kindergarten to Fifth Grade) children may attend the summer camp.

Hours of Camp

The Academy is open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Kindergarten and Elementary children may attend camp only from 9:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. each day or they may attend the Full Day Camp which includes the camp program and before and after care.

Preschool and Pre-K children may attend camp only from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. each day or they may attend the Full Day Camp which includes the camp program and before and after care.

All campers should plan to arrive by 9:00 a.m. so as not to miss out on camp events and activities.
