2010 - 2011 Registration Information

The quality education programs at Discovery Oaks Academy are very popular and registration is done on a first-come, first-served basis. Each child must register each year. Early registration will assure your child enrollment at the Academy for the 2010-2011 Academic Year; however, new students may be added throughout the year when space is available in a class.

The First Grade class is from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with before and after school care available. Aside from the core subjects of reading, math, social studies, and science, there will be instruction in Spanish, computers, music, art, and physical education. Low student to teacher ratios allow for individualized instruction.

The Kindergarten class is a full day program from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with before and after school care available. The Kindergarten curriculum consists of enriched reading experiences and exciting math, science and social studies activities. Spanish, computers, physical education and art are also included in the program.

Children must be 5 years old by September 30, 2010 for Kindergarten placement. All other children who do not make the September 30th cutoff for Kindergarten will be placed in a Pre-K classroom.

There are a variety of Pre-Kindergarten Classes offered at Discovery Oaks Academy.
A 5 day per week Pre-K class from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. is offered with before and after school care available.

Two 3 day per week Pre-K classes are offered on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
The 3 day “school only” class is from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with before and after care available.

An added option for three and five day morning Pre-K students is the Lunch Bunch. This option allows students to attend Pre-K class and then bring a lunch or purchase school lunch to enjoy with their classmates. Children that enroll in the Lunch Bunch option are dismissed at 12:30 p.m.

The 3 day enrichment class is from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Children enrolled in this class may bring lunch from home or purchase school lunch.

The Pre-K curriculum is a whole language, literacy-based curriculum centered on favorite children’s books. The child-centered classrooms make learning fun and exciting. Age- appropriate activities in language, math, science, social studies, computer technology, foreign language, art and music help prepare your child for Kindergarten.

The Preschool classes are offered to 2 and 3 year old (potty-trained) children, 2, 3, or 5 days per week. Your child may attend the Preschool class from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., or your child can be enrolled in the full-day program (preschool plus extended care).
Preschool children attending the school only programs may stay for Lunch Bunch. This option allows students to attend Preschool and then bring a lunch or purchase school lunch to enjoy with their classmates. Children enrolled in the Lunch Bunch option are dismissed at 12:30 p.m.

The whole language, literacy-based Preschool programs provide an excellent educational experience for young learners. Introduction to foreign languages, music and art are all part of the preschool experience.

All children enrolled in the Academy must provide the following:
